We did stop at Anaconda, now called Balad AFB, and I know first hand what you are talking about with regard to those damn burn pits. They seemed to be in every camp we went to. Some were huge and some were small but that smell is so distinct that one cant forget it.

I too went down with the "Iraq Crud" early on in the deployment and all they would give me were "cold packs"...the coughing was so violent, I developed a Hiatal Hernia. By the time I got back home, my esophagus was closing up too when I ate solid food. I went to the VA and they found I had a bad case of Acid reflux vs Eosinophilic Esophagitis which cased my "Dysphagia"....as of today the esophagitis has turned into "Barrets Esophagus" which is a pre cancerous condition...not to mention the high level of H Pylori infection I acquired while in the sand box. This is a serious issue and I am certainly on board with whatever you want to do to expose this to the general public. Let me know...my email is orlando_107@hotmail.com...back channel me to see what we can do.

Respectfully,

OrlandoOrlandonoreply@blogger.com
