It's getting skanky

BULLY BOY PRESS &   CEDRIC'S BIG MIX -- THE KOOL AID TABLE

CRANKY CLINTON CONTINUES HER MARCH TO WORLD DOMINATION.

AND NOTHING, NOT EVEN AN IMMUNITY DEAL FOR A FORMER STAFFER, WILL STOP HER ROLL, SHE INSISTS.

"SKANKS LIKE ME DON'T PLAY LIKE THAT," CRANKY TOLD THESE REPORTERS EARLIER THIS MORNING.  "WE DON'T PLAY.  WE SKANKS.  WE SKANKY.  WE GOOD AND SKANKY.  WE GOT THE SKANK ON EVERYONE AND THEY DON'T SEE IT OUR WAY, WE LET 'EM KNOW THE SKANK CAN GET ON OUT.  THAT'S HOW WE HELD JOE BIDEN IN CHECK WHEN HE THOUGHT HE MIGHT GO UP AGAINST ME.  NOBODY GOES UP AGAINST SKANKY.  YOU REMEMBER THAT.  NOBODY GOES UP AGAINST SKANKY."

FROM THE TCI WIRE:

At Third on Sunday, we asked "Editorial: We elect War Criminals, don't we?"

Super Tuesday provided the answer thus far:  A resounding yes.

Hillary Clinton won seven out of eleven states, AP reports.

That's War Hawk Hillary.  Cranky Clinton.

The one some of us (including me) could give some leeway in 2008 because of her Iraq War vote, we could argue it wasn't necessarily who she was.  Then she spent four years as Secretary of State advocating for every war she could think of.

She is a War Hawk.  A War Monger.

Not only has she made that ever clearer, there's also that Iraq War vote.

And her ever changing story there.

A 'mistake' has morphed into she wasn't wrong to have voted for it, she was wrong to have trusted Bully Boy Bush.

So she was an idiot when she believed Bill Clinton wouldn't repeatedly cheat on her and she remained an idiot who bought any line a man gave her with regards to Bully Boy Bush.

Let's all grasp that Bully Boy Bush was called a "chimp" and far worse.

That he was considered one of the stupidest people in the world when he occupied the White House.

And  Hillary's ever changing defense for voting in favor of the Iraq War is that the moron tricked her.

How stupid do you have to be in order to be tricked by Bully Boy Bush?

The public's been tricked by the media.

Last month activist and Academy Award winning actress Susan Sarandon explained to Ted Johnson, "Susan Sarandon: Media ‘Lack Imagination, Journalistic Ability’ in Covering Presidential Race" (VARIETY), the reaction to her supporting Senator Bernie Sanders for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination:

The people who take me to task -- it is the same old thing. "But don’t you want a woman?"
But most of the people who say that are not aware of her record. It is strange to see somebody who says they are against fracking, and then you tell them, "Well, you know [Hillary Clinton] has been selling fracking," and they have chosen not to recognize that.

And some don't recognize that because they don't want to and some don't recognize it because of the echo chamber we live in.

Whores and trash like David Brock (he is both) pounce on any Iraq statement by a Republican but run interference for Hillary.  They pimp and promote outrage about the Iraq War . . . only when they can use the Iraq War to attack Republicans.

They never cared about Iraq.

They have no ethics.

They will sell out anyone and everyone.

Packer, thy name is Vanity

BULLY BOY PRESS &  CEDRIC'S BIG MIX -- THE KOOL AID TABLE

WAR HAWK AND PROFESSIONAL IDIOT GEORGE PACKER WRITING ANOTHER MEANINGLESS ARTICLE ISN'T SURPRISING.

WHAT IS SHOCKING IS THAT THE BALDING 55-YEAR-OLD IS STILL USING A POSTAGE STAMP SIZE DRAWING OF HIMSELF THAT MAKES HIM LOOK 30 YEARS YOUNGER.

REACHED FOR COMMENT BY THESE REPORTERS, PACKER REPLIED, "I'M SO VAIN, I KNOW CARLY SIMON'S SONG WAS ABOUT ME."

FROM THE TCI WIRE:

For example, Moqtada al-Sadr.

The cleric and movement leader in Iraq is in the news.

And the usual liars of the western press are out in full force.

Moqtada filled Tahrir Square.

This is an accomplishment?

There was no police harassment.

Under police harassment, young Sunnis filled Tahrir Square every Friday for over a year.

They were beaten, they were arrested and they still filled the square in downtown Baghdad.

Friday, Moqtada couldn't even turn out a crowd like he had in March of 2014.

Anyone remember that?

That's Alsumaria.

That's Al Mada.

By contrast, filling Tahrir Square on Friday looks rather tiny.

Friday, Moqtada held a rally, not a protest.

It was a rally for the calls of the current prime minister Haider al-Abadi.

Yes, it was announced that no one spoke for the Sadr movement in the current government.

A minor note of discordance.

Otherwise, Moqtada was singing from Haider al-Abadi's hymnal.

Thursday, NATIONAL IRAQI NEWS AGENCY noted:

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi stressed that the government needs to a reformist and harmonious team at the level of application and implementation of reforms and public trends and vision of the government," stressing "the importance of cooperation in order to reduce the number of MPs and members of the provincial councils."

The office said in a statement that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi held a meeting with the Chairman and members of the economic and investment committee in Parliament, where he stressed that "economic reform needs to action, and we started working out to move the country to the right path."

He noted that "the government needs to harmonious reformist team at the level of application and implementation of the reforms and the general trends and vision of the government."

What are they talking about?

His appearance before Parliament -- the one the Saturday, February 20th snapshot noted Haider addressed Parliament and we mainly focused on the big news that he told Parliament the Shi'ite militias would be taking part in the liberation of Mosul.  You can also see this February 22nd entry which includes Haider's Tweet about that:

  • PM Al-Abadi addressed Parliament to make the case for a ministerial reshuffle and outline his economic reform plan

  • We offered an analysis Friday morning of what was actually going on.

This time it's Bill Clinton's big mouth

BULLY BOY PRESS &  CEDRIC'S BIG MIX -- THE KOOL AID TABLE

CRANKY CLINTON SHOULD HAVE A WIN TODAY WITH SOUTH CAROLINA BUT HER HUSBAND BILL SHOT OFF HIS MOUTH ABOUT A U.S. MARINE INSISTING THE MAN'S MIND WAS "POISONED."

BIG TALK FOR A SEXUAL PREDATOR WITH A LIST OF WOMEN CLAIMING TO HAVE BEEN HARASSED OR RAPED BY HIM -- A VERY LONG LIST -- AND A SEXUAL PREDATOR WHO CANNOT PRACTICE LAW BEFORE THE SUPREME COURT.

REACHED FOR COMMENT, CRANKY SAID, "WE WILL TRASH ANYONE -- IN UNIFORM OR OUT -- WHO STANDS IN MY WAY!"

    FROM THE TCI WIRE:

Starting in the US where Cranky Clinton wants to be president.  However, the former First Lady, former US senator, former Secretary of State and forever War Hawk, doesn't want to disclose her private speeches to Wall Street.

She and her husband Bill Clinton have taken millions from Wall Street.  They are happy to sing and dance before them and say whatever.  They just don't want the American people to know what was said.

    Why does it matter?

John Podesta is the Chair of the 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.

Huge thanks to all the staff, volunteers, and friends who brought it home. On to Super Tuesday!

He is also -- with his brother -- the founder of The Podesta Group.

    A lobbying group.

And his closeness to Hillary benefits him -- if not the people of the United States.

The Podesta Group has [PDF format warning] disclosed their new contact to represent the government of Iraq:

Iraq shall pay the Provider an amount of nine hundred sixty thousand US dollars (US $960,000) for services rendered, plus expenses.  Quarterly installments of two hundred forty thousand US dollars (US $240,000) shall bee paid by check in advance of each three-month period, including the beginning of the term of this Agreement.  Should the Provider be required to travel, Iraq will reimburse Provider at cost for travel expenses, including but not limited to airline tickets, airport transfers, accommodations, and meals.  Public relations expenses such as subscription services, events, digital and media monitoring, or advertising will also be passed through at cost.
Expenses for each three-month period shall be invoiced and paid by check with the fees due for the following period.  Total expenses billed during the period of this contract shall not exceed forty thousand US dollars (US $40,000).

    What's that money buying?

    The contract innocently puts it:

The objectives of this contract are to promote better understanding within the United States of the priorities and concerns of the Government of Iraq and to further the purposes of the Strategic Framework Agreement between the United States and Iraq, facilitate dialogue between Iraq and the U.S. Congress and executive branch, and make available to the Government of Iraq the services identified below.

So Podesta's family gets richer and he gets Hillary's ear and what do the Iraqi people get?

A non-responsive government which tolerates and participates in abuses well documented by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International.

A functioning media would be raising this issue, asking Hillary at debates, "How will you be protecting the people of Iraq when the Podestas rake in close to a million for representing the government of Iraq?"

They'd be asking about her own vision of a free Iraq.  They'd be asking about this Tweet:

  • But we don't have a functioning media.

    Clinton's still on her plantation

BULLY BOY PRESS &  CEDRIC'S BIG MIX -- THE KOOL AID TABLE

PLANTATION MISTRESS CRANKY CLINTON WAS SHOCKED IN SOUTH CAROLINA TODAY WHEN BLACK LIVES MATTERS ACTIVISTS PROTESTED HER.

AN OBVIOUSLY ANGRY CRANKY TOLD THESE REPORTERS, "THAT THOSE PEOPLE WOULD PROTEST ME -- ME!  AFTER ALL I'VE DONE FOR THEM.  WELL IF THEY DON'T WANT TO VOTE FOR ME, THEY CAN JUST GO BACK TO PICKING COTTON!  NO ONE'S DONE MORE FOR THEM THAN I HAVE!  NO ONE!  I EVEN INVITED BILL COSBY TO THE WHITE HOUSE WHEN I WAS FIRST LADY!"

    FROM THE TCI WIRE:

In the 2016 US presidential race, Iraq remains an issue -- much to frustration of Hillary Clinton who, as  a US Senator, voted for the war and supported it throughout most of her years in the Senate.

  • she defend mass murderer Kissinger instead of Iraqi women & girls who now being tortured by isil thx 2 her vote 4 Iraq war.
  • Hillary should beg for forgiveness from the families who lost loved ones in the Iraq war she voted for.

  • “I am happy to admit that voting for Iraq War and the Patriot Act was a mistake when everybody else does the same"

  • Of course, when forced to comment, Hillary calls her vote for the Iraq War a "mistake."  To that,
    Ben Tanosborn (RUSSIA INSIDER) offers:

Time and time again we, Americans, keep referring to the invasion of Iraq in 2003 as a mistake; almost in unanimity: Democrats and Republicans.  But it was not a mistake, not by a long shot!  It was a calculated, belligerent act by a government clique of elitist war-hawks, Bush-Junior and Dick Cheney at the top of the criminal heap.  Fortunately for these American leaders, and unfortunately for the rest of us, only leaders from nations vanquished are indicted and go to trial.  If the Axis had prevailed in World War II, and we were living in Hitler’s Millennium, there would not have been those Nuremberg Trials (1945-9), or the subsequent enactment of important, critical international law, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), or the Geneva Convention (1949).  No, no gallows for Bush and Cheney… only admiration from fools!
    [. . .]
Yes; Hillary Rodham Clinton, former First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State constantly invokes her extensive experience in affairs of state as strongly qualifying her for the White House; yet her vast experience follows for the most part decisions with bad judgment… bad experience which in my book is counterproductive to that required from a prospective good and effective leader.

Meanwhile, Paul Rosenberg (SALON) takes Cranky Clinton to task for the sliming she and her supporters are giving her rival US Senator Bernie Sanders who stood against the war:

But we’ve also seen a predictable Clinton emphasis on foreign policy, taking aim at Sanders’ comparatively meager record—as we saw in the PBS debate in Milwaukee [transcript]—and trying to portray it as utterly disqualifying, rather than as yet another reflection of a profound elite/mass divide, symbolized by their starkly different views of elite elder statesman Henry Kissinger.
However, such a move also requires a massive case of amnesia—above and beyond her palling around with Henry Kissinger, that is—for Clinton’s hawkish differences with Obama as well as Sanders.  It’s not just her Iraq War vote we’re talking about. Sanders is also far more in tune with Obama’s willingness to negotiate with enemies—a formerly bipartisan posture that traces back to John F. Kennedy (“Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate”) as well as Teddy Roosevelt (“Speak softly and carry a big stick—you will go far”).
The fact that this is now seen as a soft, risky or fringe position by many in the establishment simply goes to show how badly the establishment has lost its way, on foreign policy, every bit as much as on domestic issues.

Sanctions had already harmed Iraq before the start of the current war (March 2003).  The illegal war resulted in the deaths of over one million Iraqis.

As appalling as that figure is, the dead aren't coming back.

    And the living?

They not only mourn, they have to live with and in the system the US created.

That's a government largely ruled by Shi'ites who fled Iraq like cowards before the US-led invasion of 2003.  In exile, they nursed their hatred and suckled on their fear.  When they re-merged in Iraq and were placed in positions of power, they misused their positions to fuel hatred.

And did we note how corrupt they are?

Last week, MEM reported, "Iraq’s Commission of Public Integrity referred on Thursday four former senior officials to court on charges of corruption.  The Commission said in a statement released on Thursday that it had referred to court two former deputies of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, the former director of former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki’s military office and Baghdad’s former mayor."

Nouri al-Maliki became a very rich man while prime minister (2006 - 2014) and was able to secure a fleet of sports cars and pricey digs (such as the one in London) for his idiot son.

The bulk of the Iraqi people live in or near poverty.

This despite the fact that the country has approximately 30 million citizens and brings in billions each year via oil.

CRANKY CLINTON SQUEAKED BY IN NEVADA BUT MAY NOT HAVE TRIUMPHED WITH LATINO VOTERS.

REACHED FOR COMMENT, CRANKY INSISTED THAT THE POLLING IS WRONG "JUST WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.  HOW COULD LATINOS NOT SUPPORT ME?  THEY LOVED EVITA IN ARGENTINA AND WHAT AM I IF NOT AN AMERICAN EVITA?  LATINOS LOVE ME.  THEY LOVE ME BECAUSE I DO NOTHING FOR THEM AND I REALLY DON'T KNOW ANY EXCEPT THE ONES WHO ARE MY SERVANTS -- IN MY CAMPAIGN OR HOME.  I HAVE THE LATINO VOTE.  ALWAYS!"

AND WITH THAT, CRANKY NODDED DECISIVELY AND THEN LET OUT A LOUD FART.

    FROM THE TCI WIRE:

    In other destruction, this crap:

But the fact remains that whoever’s elected this year is nearly guaranteed to inherit the war on ISIS that President Obama launched back in 2014. He or she will be the fifth consecutive US president to preside over some variety of military intervention in Iraq—a dour chapter that’s already continued for at least 25 years, dating back to the Gulf War. (And that’s not even counting the US role in the bloody Iran-Iraq war before that.)
The good news is that Sanders sent some promising signals about his judgment on the last US invasion before it was even launched—in fact, probably even more so than he’s usually credited for. But the bad news is that his statements on the latest iteration of the conflict have been all over the map. In his bumbling calls for a “Muslim coalition” to stop ISIS, he’s shown none of the acumen that so distinguished him over 13 years ago.
Without a plan to resolve the ISIS war responsibly, the US war in Iraq could reverberate through yet another generation. If Sanders is elected, that’ll be a grim asterisk to his “political revolution” indeed.

If that garbage appeared at a military think tank, no one would be surprised.

Instead, it's from jizz in his pants Petey Certo and it's published by THE NATION.

That's what happens when Democrats are in charge of the White House (war), THE NATION goes all wobbly and loses any strong voice at all.

    The 'responsibly' is a lie.

It's the lie that continues war every damn time, even when everyone knows it's time to end it, the 'responsibly' qualifier keeps it going.

If you're my husband and you're beating the crap out of me?

I'm going to end that marriage.

    Responsibly?

    No, immediately.

By the same token, there is no 'win' here.

There is nothing but more destruction.

But THE NATION is a cathouse, a bordello of whores and FPIF is a joke.

Does Phyllis Bennis really find pride being associated with what is now a war mongering outlet that let's just sprouted pubes boys pretend that they have any perspective to offer?

Petey's a little idiot who pulls his pud to Barack Obama and thinks that makes him special or smart.

He's just one more whorish idiot arguing for the continuation of war.

We all suffer when liars claim a crime can be ended "responsibly."

We all suffer as the crime continues while these liars look for their way out -- their 'responsible' way out.

BULLY BOY PRESS &  CEDRIC'S BIG MIX -- THE KOOL AID TABLE

FRIDAY, THE STATE DEPARTMENT RELEASED 1,116 MORE OF CRANKY CLINTON'S E-MAILS.  THESE WERE HIGHLY REDACTED BECAUSE "64 CONTAIN CLASSIFIED INFORMATION."

REACHED FOR COMMENT, CRANKY INSISTED, "SEE, IT'S THE STATE DEPARTMENT THAT'S PUTTING OUT CLASSIFIED INFORMATION, NOT ME!  I'M AN INNOCENT IN ALL OF THIS VAST RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY.  IT'S THE STATE DEPARTMENT AND FOX NEWS OUT TO GET ME!"

SHE THEN LET OUT A LOUD AND NOXIOUS FART.

"EXCUSE ME," SHE SAID AS SHE WALKED AWAY.

    FROM THE TCI WIRE:

And once upon a time, US President Barack Obama grasped that.

He knew bombings were not going to defeat the Islamic State.

He ordered bombings to start in August of 2014.  Shortly after, August 11, 2014,  he made some remarks while vacationing on Martha's Vineyard.

US President Barack Obama:  But as I said when I authorized these operations, there is no American military solution to the larger crisis in Iraq.  The only lasting solution is for Iraqis to come together and form an inclusive government -- one that represents the legitimate interests of all Iraqis, and one that can unify the country’s fight against ISIL.
Today, Iraq took a promising step forward in this critical effort.   Last month, the Iraqi people named a new President.  Today, President Masum named a new Prime Minister designate, Dr. Haider al-Abadi.  Under the Iraqi constitution, this is an important step towards forming a new government that can unite Iraq’s different communities.

Where did his common sense go?

The US government has done nothing to address the political crises.

And now some even crazier 'plans' are floated.  As we noted at Third in "Editorial: Congress has a plan for Mosul," US House Rep Brad Sherman's become all about the killing:

Mosul was seized by the Islamic State in June 2014.

The Iraqi government has been unable/unwilling to liberate it.

So all this time later, Mosul remains in the hands of the Islamic State.

But rest assured, Brad Sherman is on the job.

Last Wednesday, during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, Sherman felt the need to pontificate to Barack Obama's Special Envoy Brett McGurk.

    About?

    Mosul.

Brad's bothered, you understand, by the electricity.

Why, he wanted to know, was the Iraqi government supplying civilians in Mosul with electricity?

Brad would just cut it off.

They've been occupied for almost two years.

Could be for two more years more as far as anyone knows.

    But it don't bother Brad.

He also didn't understand why more bombs were not being dropped by the US and why, specifically, Mosul wasn't being bombed.

"Civilians!" the world collectively screams back.

Oh, Brad didn't forget about them.

He just doesn't give a damn about them.

Why when France was occupied, he insisted, the allies killed at least 90,000 civilians while they bombed.

    Brad Sherman is deeply disturbed.

    Promises, promises, promises

BULLY BOY PRESS &  CEDRIC'S BIG MIX -- THE KOOL AID TABLE

SPEAKING TO A GROUP OF JEWISH-AMERICANS IN FLORIDA, BILL CLINTON PROMISED THEM THAT IF CRANKY IS ELECTED PRESIDENT SHE WILL EMBRACE ISRAEL LIKE A LONG LOST LOVER IN 150 SHADES OF GREY.

REACHED FOR COMMENT BY THESE REPORTERS, CRANKY CLINTON DID NOT DENY HIS PROMISE BUT SAID "THAT'S JUST WHAT THEY SAY.  I MEAN, I WAS COURTING MIDDLE AGED VOTERS TODAY AND MET WITH MONICA LEWINSKY.  I SAID, 'MONS, WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO SECURE YOUR VOTE?  I'LL LET YOU GIVE ME HEAD.  I'LL STAIN YOUR BLUE DRESS.  ANYTHING.'  AND YOU KNOW I HATE HER.  AND YOU KNOW I WOULDN'T KEEP MY WORD BECAUSE, AFTER ALL, I AM CRANKY CLINTON.  BUT, YES, I WILL SAY ANYTHING TO GET HER VOTE.  HER VOTE OR ANYONE ELSE'S VOTE.  THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT.  I LIE, YOU VOTE FOR ME, AND THEN I FORGET YOU."

    FROM THE TCI WIRE:

These bombings have gone on every day since August 2014.

    And nothing's changed in Iraq.

    Doubt it?

Here's Jan Kubis speaking to the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday:

Persistent political polarization and divisions continue to hamper Prime Minister Abadi’s ability to advance the reform agenda, including in decentralisation and fighting corruption. The Prime Minister’s recent announcement aimed at establishing a more professional Cabinet with members selected on merit, and not on sectarian or political quotas, should be accompanied by accelerated implementation of a genuine political, security and economic reform package. The complex and deepening set of challenges before the country and its people requires that the political blocks finally work together in support of comprehensive and profound reforms, as they did when adopting the budget for 2016.
Iraq’s persistent and rapidly-deepening fiscal crisis and growing budget deficit, compounded by the security and humanitarian situation and drastic decline in global oil prices, has almost halved the State’s planned income since then, and the Kurdistan Region faces at least a situation as grave as that of Baghdad. Fiscal challenges are also likely to impact the fight against ISIL as a significant number of fighters, notably the Peshmerga, have not received salaries for several months.

I am mindful that if left unaddressed, such an unsustainable situation may seriously undermine the renewed morale of pro-government forces and confidence of the people, including youth, communities, minorities and IDPs that they can have a future in Iraq. And while the Governments in Baghdad and Erbil must rapidly prioritise and take full ownership over the state finances and reforms, I urge the international community to assist Iraq in overcoming these difficulties through increased technical support and funding, including through lending by international and regional financial institutions. Genuine economic reforms by the Governments in Baghdad and Erbil could pave the way to such financial and budgetary support.

Kubis is the special envoy to Iraq for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

He was noting the lack of progress on a political solution, the inability the Iraqi government has with any efforts towards political reconciliation.

    Nothing has changed.

US President Barack Obama ordered the daily bombings of Iraq in August of 2014.

Months before that, June 19, 2014, he acknowledged the need for a political solution in Iraq.

US President Barack Obama:  Above all, Iraqi leaders must rise above their differences and come together around a political plan for Iraq’s future.  Shia, Sunni, Kurds -- all Iraqis -- must have confidence that they can advance their interests and aspirations through the political process rather than through violence.  National unity meetings have to go forward to build consensus across Iraq’s different communities.  Now that the results of Iraq’s recent election has been certified, a new parliament should convene as soon as possible.  The formation of a new government will be an opportunity to begin a genuine dialogue and forge a government that represents the legitimate interests of all Iraqis.
Now, it’s not the place for the United States to choose Iraq’s leaders.  It is clear, though, that only leaders that can govern with an inclusive agenda are going to be able to truly bring the Iraqi people together and help them through this crisis.  Meanwhile, the United States will not pursue military options that support one sect inside of Iraq at the expense of another.  There’s no military solution inside of Iraq, certainly not one that is led by the United States.  But there is an urgent need for an inclusive political process, a more capable Iraqi security force, and counterterrorism efforts that deny groups like ISIL a safe haven.

    Not getting it?

Here he is still speaking on June 19, 2014:

But I don’t think there’s any secret that right now at least there is deep divisions between Sunni, Shia and Kurdish leaders.  And as long as those deep divisions continue or worsen, it’s going to be very hard for an Iraqi central government to direct an Iraqi military to deal with these threats.
And so we’ve consulted with Prime Minister Maliki, and we’ve said that to him privately.  We’ve said it publicly that whether he is prime minister, or any other leader aspires to lead the country, that it has to be an agenda in which Sunni, Shia and Kurd all feel that they have the opportunity to advance their interests through the political process.  And we’ve seen over the last two years, actually dating back to 2008, 2009 -- but I think worse over the last two years -- the sense among Sunnis that their interests were not being served, that legislation that had been promised around, for example, De-Ba’athification had been stalled.
I think that you hear similar complaints that the government in Baghdad has not sufficiently reached out to some of the tribes and been able to bring them in to a process that gives them a sense of being part of a unity government or a single nation-state.  And that has to be worked through.

    Nothing changes.

The wedge is still the same, the Sunnis are still persecuted.

Haider al-Abadi's done nothing to address that persecution.

Last week, Tim Arango (NEW YORK TIMES) reported:

When Iraqi ground forces and American aircraft began assaulting the city of Ramadi more than a month ago, Ghusoon Muhammed and her family fled to the government’s front line, as did many other Sunni Arab families who had been trapped for months. Soldiers sent her and the children one way, and her husband another, to be interrogated in a detention facility.
She has not seen him or heard from him since.   She and her children, who will most likely not be able to go home to Ramadi for months given the destruction, have been left to wait in a ramshackle tent camp here in Anbar Province.  She is desperate, and adamant: "The innocent people in jail need to be released!" she said.
Standing nearby on Sunday was another woman, Karima Nouri.  Her son an auto mechanic, was also taken away by the authorities, and she has had no word about him for weeks.  Ms. Nouri said the government considered civilians who remained in Ramadi to be sympathizers of the Islamic State.

Are we forgetting that one of the many complaints of the protesters was the disappearance of loved ones, seized by the Iraqi forces and vanished into no one knew where?  For that matter, the seizing of loved ones for no valid reason to begin with.
