David's trash and he always has been.  That he'd embrace rape culture is only a surprise if you didn't know the details of his life.  Fair-minded readings?  David, we're not whores like you.  Let's start with the PBS report.  As Ava and I noted -- Jim says we should be saying "As Ava and I exclusively reported" -- in "Media: Lies and liars all around," PBS didn't report a damn thing.  This despite praise from David and the always ridiculous Judy Woodruff.  Judy calls the PBS garbage "deeply reported."  That claim -- more than everything Gwen Ifill used to say about her -- really questions Judy's understanding of the term "reporting."

PBS didn't do anything to praise.

In fact, they should be called out.

Tara Reade has accused Joe Biden of assault.  PBS responds how?  THE NEWSHOUR brings Tara on and -- Oh, wait.  This is their second 'report' and PBS viewers still haven't been able to hear from Tara or, for that matter, any expert in assault.  They do get spin.

In the garbage Daniel Bush and Lisa Desjardins offered -- stenography passed off as journalism -- they wanted to overwhelm you with the numbers.  200 people they attempted to speak with, 74 they were able to.

Wow that would be impressive.

If they were doing journalism, that would be impressive.

But as they admit they got names from "the public record" and from Joe's campaign.  The "public record"?  Ava and I worked the phones for two hours Sunday calling everyone PBS friend we had to ask them to explain "public record."  Only two were able to.  "Public record" in this case refers solely to news articles over the years that named a staffer or inter for Joe Biden.

They did not go to employment records.  They did not go to HR.

Who would be in the public record for Joe?  Staffers that the senator's office -- his office as vice president -- wanted to highlight for fluff press.

Daniel and Lisa didn't have much luck with that.  ("It's telling that people they dug up in the public record didn't want to speak to them and it's a point that should have been included in their report," one PBS friend said.  We agree with that call.)  So they then went to Joe Biden's campaign and asked them to refer people they could speak to.

Joe is accused of assault and Daniel and Lisa 'investigate' by asking Joe Biden's campaign who they should speak to?

No surprise, Joe Biden's campaign provides a list of character witnesses.

That's not reporting.  PBS owes the country an apology and Daniel and Lisa need to be removed from their jobs.

You do not 'investigate' an alleged assault by asking the alleged assailant who you should speak to.

What's especially sad is that Daniel and Lisa include what they did in the actual 'report.'  But it's so much that it overwhelms and people read over it without registering.  (I realized it was a problem while dreaming.  Their 'methodology' didn't stand out to me either.  I realized Ben Savage was a problem as a witness since there are no details provided about him but that's all I realized until I went to sleep.  I'm not any better than anyone else reading the 'report,' I just got lucky.)

PBS needs to explain whether this is how THE NEWSHOUR now plans to investigate -- by going to the accused and asking for a list of people to sing the accused's praises and then taking stenography, publishing it and call it an investigation.

It wasn't an investigation.

If PBS plans to continue this (mal)practice, they should admit what they're doing -- providing aid for the defense.

It was one-sided and it was not journalism.  It needs to be called out -- not praised by liars like David Axelrod and Martin Longman.  In fact, ALTERNET needs to pull Longman's article "PBS finds no support for Tara Reade's accusations."

REACHED FOR COMMENT, BERNIE SCREAMED THAT THESE REPORTERS WERE BLOCKING HIS DRIVE WAY AND HE WAS WAITING FOR "THE EVENING PAPER" TO BE DELIVERED.

Biden’s accuser, Tara Reade, was one of eight women who registered complaints of inappropriate touching in April of last year — before Biden ever jumped into the presidential race. As Biden appeared likely to be the Democratic nominee, Reade came forward in late March and told her story about her former boss. In an interview with podcast host Katie Halper, Reade said Biden penetrated her vagina with his fingers. She alleges the incident occurred in 1993, while she was an aide in his Senate office. What Reade describes is rape, according to the Department of Justice’s own definition. In an interview with Megyn Kelly, Reade has called on Biden to end his presidential bid and “step forward and be held accountable.”

The name Lucy Flores may be all but forgotten in an exhausting year of political reporting. Flores was the first to come forward and register publicly that an encounter with Biden made her deeply uncomfortable. In a viral essay, Flores described how, in 2015, then-Vice President Biden made her feel “uneasy, gross, and confused” as she campaigned for lieutenant governor in Nevada.
“I feel him come up close behind me, and that’s when he leans in and he lingers around my head,” Flores recounted on Intercepted. “I hear him kind of inhale. And then he proceeds to plant this low kiss on the top of my head.” (Biden denied that he had acted inappropriately toward Flores.)
Seven more women came forward with similar stories of Biden’s manner of unwanted, inappropriate touching. Descriptions told of how his hands intimately lingered on everything from the women’s necks, shoulders, backs, or thighs. Some say his forehead pressed against theirs. Noses so close that they rubbed together. Breathing in the smell of hair. Kissing the back of the head.


 At THE GUARDIAN, Daniel Strauss points out:

A small group of insurgent Democratic congressional candidates have begun to raise concerns that Reade’s allegations are not being taken seriously enough. Rebecca Parson, a liberal Democrat challenging the Washington state congressman Derek Kilmer, said in an interview on Friday that Biden should step down over Reade’s allegations. Parson said she believes Reade and thinks the charges create too much of a vulnerability for Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
“I want to defeat Donald Trump in November and yes, I’m a progressive and I’m in the left-wing of the party, but something that really unites the people in the centrist wing and the progressive wing is we all want to defeat Trump,” Parson said. “I don’t think we do that with somebody who has all these allegations against him, especially because Donald Trump has assault allegations against him and unfortunately with Donald Trump, Trump doesn’t care about being a hypocrite.”
Parson added: “I think that Biden should withdraw and any one or more of the candidates who aren’t running should restart their campaign because the Democratic primary isn’t over yet.”

 But Parson is not alone in arguing that at this point Biden should drop out of the race. A Politico/Morning Consult poll found that over a third of Democratic voters surveyed say the party should switch out Biden as their presumptive nominee because of the allegations.

On Friday, Tara Reade was attacked by sexist pig Bill Maher whose own issues with woman go way beyond the trash he tried with Rose McGowan.

Why did Tara Reade wait so long to come forward!!!!!!

Golly, gee, what woman wouldn't want to be attacked and smeared by one attack dog after another?  Right?  A woman who has been assaulted has to survive the original assault and then the second assault which takes place when she comes forward.

The reality is that Joe has a long history of lying.  Joe Biden.  It's what derailed his first presidential run.  And he's continued to lie over and over.  But instead of acknowledging that, people want to smear Tara.

Joe's the one lying in New Hampshire that he graduated top of his law school class when he was 76th out of 85.  In our piece, Ava and I include this:

 I guess before he died in 2012, Alex was plotting with Tara Reade and, according to Bill Maher, Putin about how to take down Joe Biden in 2020.  Alex obviously seized on the idea of traveling back in time to 2008 to write the above, right?

Joe Biden's history is ugly and messy.  It's one lie after another.  Does the fact that he's a politician excuse that long pattern of lying?

 Nothing excuses his lying.

But it's not even acknowledged.

Friday, Joe Biden appeared on MSNBC's MORNING JOE in an attempt to convince "the American people" (Mika's term) that he did not assault Tara Reade in 1993.  Jimmy Dore offers his take below.




Among other things, Jimmy takes MSNBC on for making it about what is or isn't in the National Archives.


Journalist Nicole Einbinder Tweeted the following Friday morning during the interview:

Joe Biden said that Tara Reade's complaint could only be at the National Archives, at what was then called the Office of Fair Employment Practices. But, a National Archives spokesperson told me that they do not hold records from that office.



Instead, a Senate Historical Office staffer said the Fair Employment Practices records are governed by a Senate resolution mandating that "records containing personal privacy, information closed by statute, and records of executive nomination are closed for 50 years."

That staffer said that rules for filing a complaint to the Office of Fair Employment Practices were complicated and that it was possible that a staffer attempting to do so without proper guidance may not have taken the necessary steps to get an investigation started.

According to congressional testimony from 1995, 479 people contacted the office between 1992 and 1995 seeking assistance. Of those, only 102 entered the office's five-step "dispute resolution" process, which included a formal complaint and hearing.

If Reade's complaint was filed to the Office of Fair Employment Practices, the record will remain closed until 2043 — more than two decades from now.

It's also important to note that Reade isn't just looking for the complaint. She has other reasons for wanting the University of Delaware to unseal the records:
